Metastability

Flip-flops can work properly as long as their setup and hold times are satisfied. If these are violated then metastability will occur. That means we can’t predict the value of the output. For example, if we put a ball top of a mountain, it can fall on either side of the mountain depending on the force of the air. Same situation happens with the flip-flop also.
